TRANSFORMATION OF THE INDUSTRIAL AND TERRITORIAL STR

The current stage of agriculture development in Russia is characterized by significant changes in the industrial and territorial structure. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the share of science- and capital-intensive industries - poultry farming, pig farming, greenhouse vegetable growing - has increased in the industrial structure of agricultural sector of the economy. The positions of the traditional agricultural regions of the country - the Central, Volga and Southern federal districts - are strengthening: if on average in 2001-2005 they accounted for 62% of the total Russian agricultural production, then already in 2019-2023 - more than 70%. In the Republic of Tatarstan, which is one of the leading agricultural regions of the country, the share of households in regional production has significantly decreased over the periods under review (44.7 and 36.7%, respectively, on average in 2001-2005 and 2019-2023), with a significant increase in the contribution of peasant (farm) households (3.3 and 10.6%, respectively), and the positions of agricultural organizations remained virtually unchanged. In the industry structure, grain and potatoes lost more than 5 percentage points each with a proportional increase in milk and livestock products; the shares of industrial and fruit and berry crops also increased. The main trends in changing the location of production by natural and economic zones of the Republic were the increased concentration of poultry, eggs, pork and potato production in suburban areas; farms in Kama zone are leading in milk production, where pedigree cattle breeding is highly developed and the rural population density is quite high to provide personnel. The main factors that determined the transformation of the sectoral and territorial structure of agriculture in the Republic were: concentration of production in areas with developed infrastructure and proximity to sales markets; development of industries with an industrial type; level of profitability of products and availability of sales channels; introduction of intensive technologies; automation and specialization of large livestock complexes; migration of the rural population to cities; change in consumer preferences, etc.
