Abstract

This article presents numerical modeling of a closed-loop heating system for greenhouse heating based on a phase-change heat pipe using a water coolant. The aim of the study is to analyze the thermodynamic parameters in a transient mode, focusing on the stabilization time and temperature and pressure distribution during heating of the evaporator tank. The mathematical model is implemented in SimInTech software package. The evaporator tank was considered as a concentrated volume with uniform parameters (zero-dimensional model), and the pipelines were considered as a sequence of one-dimensional sections in which temperature and pressure varied along their length. Each section was divided into segments, for which the equations for conservation of mass, momentum and energy were solved, taking into account the water-steam phase transition and heat exchange with the ground. It was found that, under the considered natural circulation conditions, the system reaches a quasi-steady state within several hours (approximately 2.2-4.3 hours), while the vapor pressure in the circuit increases from approximately 450 to 1500 kPa with an increase in the heating temperature from 150 to 200°C. The temperatures and pressures in the evaporator tank and the steam line are virtually identical (the temperature difference does not exceed 1.5-2°C), indicating low energy losses during heat transfer in the vapor phase. Energy losses in the vapor phase were shown to be minimal (temperature difference ≤ 1.6°C), while in the return line, they were reduced by 25–30%. The obtained data allowed us to justify the selection of structural materials and thicknesses in accordance with temperature ranges, tensile strength, and safety factors. The practical significance lies in the reduction of energy costs due to heat accumulation with phase transitions, which is especially relevant for regions with sharp temperature fluctuations.
